This 2 Days Zanzibar Island Tour is ideal for travelers who want to experience the highlights of Zanzibar without feeling rushed.
Your adventure begins in the historic streets of Stone Town, where centuries of Swahili, Arab, Persian, and European influences come together in one of East Africa's most captivating cultural destinations. Continue to Prison Island to meet the famous Aldabra giant tortoises before enjoying spectacular coastal scenery.
On the second day, venture into the lush Jozani Forest to encounter the rare Zanzibar Red Colobus Monkeys before visiting the iconic Rock Restaurant, one of the most photographed restaurants in the world. Depending on your preferences and the tides, you may also have time to relax on Zanzibar's pristine beaches before returning to your hotel. This itinerary reflects many of Zanzibar's most sought-after experiences and attractions.
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel for a short briefing before beginning your journey through the historic heart of Zanzibar.
Your first destination is Stone Town, the cultural and historical center of the island and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you wander through its narrow alleyways, you'll discover beautifully carved wooden doors, centuries-old coral stone buildings, lively local markets, and vibrant streets filled with the aromas of spices and freshly prepared Swahili cuisine.
During the guided walking tour, your guide will share fascinating stories about Zanzibar's role in the Indian Ocean trade, its multicultural heritage, and the influences that shaped the island over hundreds of years.
Highlights of the walking tour include:
Following the walking tour, head to the waterfront where you board a traditional wooden boat for the short cruise across the turquoise waters to Prison Island, officially known as Changuu Island.
Originally intended as a prison in the late nineteenth century, the island later became a quarantine station before evolving into one of Zanzibar's most popular attractions.
Today, Prison Island is famous for its population of Aldabra Giant Tortoises, some of which are over 100 years old. Visitors can observe these remarkable animals up close, learn about their conservation, and take memorable photographs.
Depending on sea conditions and available time, you may also enjoy swimming or snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island before returning to Stone Town.
The afternoon offers free time to enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants overlooking the ocean or explore souvenir shops featuring handmade crafts, spices, jewelry, and traditional Zanzibari artwork.
As the day comes to an end, return to your hotel for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Accompanied by an experienced local guide, walk along shaded forest trails while learning about the island's unique ecosystems, medicinal plants, birdlife, and conservation efforts.
One of the highlights of the visit is observing the playful Red Colobus Monkeys as they move freely through the forest canopy. These fascinating primates have become one of Zanzibar's most recognizable wildlife species and provide incredible photography opportunities.
Continue your nature walk through the peaceful mangrove boardwalk, where you'll gain insight into the importance of mangrove ecosystems in protecting Zanzibar's coastline and supporting marine biodiversity.
After exploring Jozani Forest, continue toward the picturesque southeast coast for a visit to the legendary The Rock Restaurant.
Perched on a coral rock in the Indian Ocean, this iconic restaurant is one of Zanzibar's most photographed landmarks. Depending on the tide, you may either walk across the sand or take a short boat ride to reach the restaurant.
